• Recruitment of an international consultant for the preparation of a sub-regional workshop to develop a concerted strategy for the promotion of decent work in the domestic work sector in UEMOA countries As part of its mandate to promote decent work for all, the International Labor Organization (ILO) attaches particular importance to the domestic work sector. This is characterized by a high degree of informality, labor relations precarious, a strong female predominance, low social protection coverage and increased vulnerability of workers. In the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), domestic work represents a significant source of employment, while remaining largely insufficiently regulated and protected. Although the adoption, in 2011, of ILO Convention No. 189 relating to Decent Work for Domestic Workers and the Recommendation No. 201 constituted a major step forward, progress in terms of ratification, transposition into national legislation and effective implementation remains uneven within the sub-region. Legal frameworks, policies public authorities, social dialogue mechanisms as well as the capacities of the actors concerned present varying levels of development depending on the country. It is in this context that the ILO is considering the organization of a sub-regional workshop aimed at develop, in a concerted manner, a strategy to promote decent work in the domestic work sector within the French-speaking UEMOA countries.
